A new career path could be as simple as dropping out of a 4 year degree plan/school, and enrolling in a study abroad program for a semester. Exploring a new career could be as simple as reaching out to someone in a professional position that is already doing the work that you are interested in…Find out if you can shadow them for a morning or afternoon and get time on their lunch to get some mentorship.

Exploring a new career path doesnt necessarily need to be a massive pivot from what you are already working towards. The real challenge here is to explore every different life purpose/work that makes you happy. It is possible that you are doing a college degree in Nuclear Engineering, but you also love photography, rock climbing, and somewhere in the back of your mind, you have always daydreamed about being a florist, a real estate agent, or an astronaut. Instead of boxing yourself in, and deciding that you cant do it all, what does it look like to put that Nuclear Engineering degree path on hold, explore all the other options, and if you still want the Engineering career, you can come back to it in a few years. Being 18-28 years old means that you have time to explore every option, and you have plenty of time to reroute and change direction anytime you want.

There are No Rules! Let your imagination run wild. During my 20s, I was able to travel across the United States as well as to multiple Caribbean islands living and doing door-to-door sales. I was able to be a cook on Catalina Island, as well as a food server in a restaurant, a forklift driver moving rocks in a warehouse, selling Cadillacs in Newport Beach, and eventually, 5 years in the United States Army Infantry. I lived in South Korea, visited the Great Wall of China, lived in Kansas, Iraq, roadtripped through New Zealand, and so many other adventures mixed in.
